Senior Developer Bipush Osti
I work in marketing but I am also a citizen developer. I was recently tasked with building a multi platform application for internal use. In
the process of building the app I had the fortune of working with one of our developers; Bipush Osti, a senior developer at Standard Harvest and low-code specialist.
The following is a conversation that took place between the two of us during a impromptu, low-code coaching session.
“Bipush, how long have you been developing with our [no code] platform?” I asked casually after he answered a few of my other questions.
“Oh, about a year now” Bipush answered back. .
“Well… what are some of the things you like about the platform? I want to know how it helps you as a developer?” I asked.
“Hmm, Sure.” He said. ” I am not extremely familiar with SQL, but I can tell you it’s a lot easier to get a record. For example, based on what data is passed to the post. You can do all web services and API’s too, all without writing much code. A lot of the times, without any code.”
“That’s super helpful Anything else?” I questioned.
“Oh yea, I think the drag drop relation creation tool is also unique. Compared to writing code, this is definitely very intuitive.” He said.
“Is that it?” I probed.
“No, I like the data management. It shows all data and relations easily. Actions are quite useful too” My friend added.
“What do you like about actions?”
“It allows you to work on the data present in the system without any back end code. You can have conditions, loops, update create delete of records, call web services for the record you just updated etc. It’s quite powerful in that sense. You have a list of things you can do with your data and you are able to visualize it easily.” He explained.
“In fact,” He went on, “It looks like pseudo-code because it’s so simple and intuitive. But it actually works!”
“This is good feedback, can i use these quotes in a blog?” I asked him.
“Sure.” He replied.
Conclusion:
The no/low code platforms of today are and simple to use. Competition breeds innovation and lower prices as low-code gains in popularity. The rise of low-code development platforms is quickly becoming the go-to solution to combat the IT and developer shortage.
More and more companies are accepting the new citizen developer paradigm: That citizen developers are the key to a digital transformation.
